New and Better

Good Morning Friends, Last week I mentioned that my IPhone had died-specifically my screen died, which made my phone useless. I can honestly say I am very dependent on this technology, because without a land line, I count on being able to connect via my cell. I can't believe how our world has changed; do you remember the time we didn't have cell phones and could exist happily without a phone if we were away. I well remember backpacking with my bff in high school and being in the back country with no ties to civilization. I remember when we only carried cell phones in case of an emergency with our cars. Sometimes I think ignorance is bliss-or at least it was when I was growing up. So, there are perks when your sil works for one of the largest cell companies around. When I let my daughter and sil know my phone was broken, he immediately gave me his "old" phone that was the same model as I had. We also ordered a new IPhone 5C for me. Guess what arrived yesterday-you got it. I did have to wait to activate it until our guests had gone, but last night I went over to our daughter's house and let sil do his magic. It is white but I found a cute case for it.
This case looks just like me-I couldn't resist it.  I've been playing all morning on my phone, getting used to all the new upgrades and love it.  Of course, I know many of you could teach me a thing or two about it.
So I'm back in the modern world!
What about you, do you depend as much on your cell as I do?  Do you still have a land line or just a cell?  Let me know your thoughts.
I am so thankful for our sil, for his skill and help in teaching this old gal and for working long, hard hours to provide for his family.
Blessings on your day!
Noreen

  1. Yay! Glad your new phone arrived ... what a pretty case! I have an iPhone 5C as well and need to find a pretty case for it, too. We ditched our land lines several years ago and haven't missed them at all. Doesn't hurt that without the land lines, we get very few "spam" calls and no political calls. ;-)

  2. Good morning! First, love your new case..perfect! And kind of scary how dependent I've become. And to think I fought getting one. Didn't think it was "necessary". Oh, I had a car phone for emergencies, and an old cell phone that was practically pointless, but saw no need for an i-phone. Well, hubby got me one last Christmas and it is rarely out of my sight now, lol. I did NOT text before I got this phone and now it seems as if I am in constant communication with someone. I especially like being able to shoot quick pics over to my sisters and to Mel. Feel like we are always together this way. And I thoroughly enjoy instagram too. I could go on and on about the ways I use it, but I will spare you, lol. However, I left it by mistake yesterday morning when we left for church and was without it ALL day, and I was practically hysterical. Maybe a little TOO attached? haha Yes, we still have a land line but have discussed just recently getting rid of it. Funny how things change. Enjoy your day Noreen, and ENJOY that new phone!

  4. What a pretty case~
Glad you up and running with your phone..
I just taught my mom to text this past week-end
she thinks its weird to text and not talk.
I told her its only for short conversations like..
    "I got home fine"
    or
" call me when you have time"
    things like that..
    Have a great day.

  5. We don't get cell phone reception at our house! One of the few remaining dead spots. But I do have the latest generation iPod Touch that does everything the iPhone does except phoning. So I can text but not talk.

  8. My iPhone 4 got very, very sick recently and I had to replace it with the 5c (which I love). I couldn't wait for it to die as I need it for my business. Glad you have yours.

I agree we are too connected. I was thinking the exact same thing as I sat down and saw a news alert flash across my screen that Robin Williams had died. Sometimes ignorance is bliss!

  9. Mom says the case is definitely YOU!!! Very ladylike and pretty. Mom and Dad never had cellphones until our Dad got stuck in NYC on the infamous 9/11 date. Not being to reach him for so many hours was really scary. Mom says she would be lost without her phone now, but we also do have a landline. Now the oldest grandbiped is lobbying for her own phone. Her mom says no way, too young:)

BTW,Mom is still learning new things about her iPhone - she just found out there is a flashlight function on it!

  10. Hi Noreen! So glad your new iphone arrived! I have the iPhone 5s and I do not know how I would ever survive without it in today's world! Years ago I would drive across several states every weekend with nothing but my CB radio...which my Dad got me because he was always worried my car would break down...and I traveled alone! I adore both my iphone and ipad...VERY dependent indeed! Love Instagram and Twitter and FB! We got rid of our landline years ago. My husband refuses to pay for a smartphone...so I bought him the newest ipod Touch so I can FaceTime and text back and forth when I am at the cottage and he is home or vice versa!

  11. I do remember those days and kinda wish we could go back. Love your case, that is something I would pick! We still have a land line. I love my smart phone but I don't like talking on it. I will always have a land line until they no longer offer them.
